Rabbitfluff is complex: his positives, neutrals, and negatives don’t even begin to describe it, especially after what he has experienced in his lifetime has shaped his perspective. He’s stubborn and intelligent, two of the things that are perhaps most quickly noticeable externally. Internally, he doesn’t feel like he measures up to anyone, not his siblings or his clanmates, and so he gives off a showy air, forming his superiority complex. Deep down, Rabbitfluff knows his thinking is unrealistic and toxic, but takes comfort in it regardless.
Rabbitfluff values formality and politeness, believing that expressing less is talking down to him or showing disrespect in general, and he uses a large, quite traditional vocabulary when conversing with others. Although he may seem absolutely cold-hearted and inconsiderate, he is aware of and sensitive to needs, but fear of disappointment cripples him. Sometimes, he does wish he could be better at helping, but performance anxiety prevents him from acting, or giving any attention to those that may need him -- if they aren’t extremely close to begin with. Only his tiny circle of friends see the real him. To add to his dilemma, he can be distrustful of even his own clanmates' motives and isn't comfortable being put into situations where trust is vital and necessary. While he can be a lot of big talk with his fancy words and speak bluntly, he's still a big baby at heart.
This is a cat that’s terrified of ending up alone, but nevertheless puts himself in positions where that is the expected outcome, a vicious cycle of self-sabotage. His family is basically non existent anymore, his parents meeting grisly fates early on in his life, meanwhile his brother left the Clan. During his warriorship, tragic fate struck again when his sister, Bramblestripe, was killed. The destruction of his family has left Rabbitfluff broken and secluded, grieving for his losses. He puts distance in budding friendships, afraid of getting too close or driving them away -- the only one that has managed to infiltrate his inner bubble, consistently in his life, is Grousestar.
Throughout it all, Grousestar has been there for him despite a rather unpleasant first meeting. The compassion he has shone Rabbitfluff has made him begin to come out of his shell, attempt to be a bit nicer toward his clanmates, but it’s an agonizingly slow process. With a rocky family and a struggle to form connections with fellow SkyClanners, he greatly enjoys and appreciates the patience and kindness Grousestar has provided him.
